INTERACTIVE SCULPTURE
Giant 303
Bang Face is a world of its own: a hedonistic haven for hardcrew dance heads from all over the globe.
They challenged us to make an interactive scale model of the Roland TB-303 bassline synth after witnessing our previous endeavour, the 9ft 909.
OUR ROLES
Design, construction, programming, installation.
Faithful re-creation
Our goal was to celebrate the original synth while making it easily accessible and, most importantly, fun to play.
The install has slots for 13 basslines which players can distort and squelch, just like on the original machine.
Adding drum loops and effects rounded out the experience by allowing players to collaborate on simple tracks.
Passionately Upscaled
The sculpture is 216 times the size of the original. The wooden shell is heavy duty, built from seasoned Marine Plywood to make it as robust as possible. We knew the dials would see a lot of action so we made them from solid wood and mounted them with metal ball-bearings.

“Nailed it.”
– Saint Acid (Bangface Director)
The Giant 303 has appeared at many festivals around the UK, with guest appearances in Europe, and is still touring. Contact us for details. >>
