Lip-synchronised video.
One route is to combine still images of characters with scripted, voice-acted content to generate videos.
Note: We are generally very wary of generative AI and its unquestioned ubiquity. We use it only when its role is constrained, justified and secondary. We believe that the role we’re proposing for it here satisfies these criteria: it would connect and recontextualise historical and present-day content in a way that makes both appealing to a wider audience without diluting their value.
That said, we are also happy to consider completely AI-free alternatives!

Conceptual design
Considering the results of this experiment, we would like to better understand the risks and opportunities that might arise by proceeding in this creative and technical direction. We find the outcome compelling, and believe it has a potential role in a wider narrative structure that brings life to the characters in the photographs. We believe it will be particularly attractive to a young, digital-native target audience with a strong preference for video over still-image and text content.
However, we’re also sensitive to the ethical and artistic pitfalls of generative AI, and will work closely with the team to agree on a route that all stakeholders feel comfortable with
